What This Site Collects

Comments. Articles on this site use a comment system that requires a verified email address to post (no anonymous commenting). When you leave a comment, the system stores your email address, the display name you choose, your comment text, and technical data (like your IP address) used to prevent spam and abuse. This data is stored on a server I run myself — it is never sold, and never shared with anyone except as required by law.

You can ask to have your comments and account data deleted at any time — the comment system has a built-in “delete my data” option, or you can reach out via Contact and I’ll handle it directly.

Nothing else on this site collects personal data. There are no contact forms, no newsletter signup, and no account system beyond the comments above.

Third-Party Services Used on This Site

A few embedded services can see that your browser loaded a page here, as an ordinary side effect of how they work:

• Affiliate links (via Skimlinks) — some gear/article links are affiliate links. See the Affiliate Disclosure page for the full explanation. Clicking one of these links may let the affiliate network see that click.
• Embedded X (Twitter) posts — some articles embed real posts from X. X’s own embed script may set its own cookies per X’s privacy policy, independent of anything this site does.
• Google Fonts — this site loads some fonts from Google’s font service, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s servers to fetch them.

None of these are analytics or advertising trackers — this site runs no ad network and no visitor-tracking analytics of its own.

Where Your Data Lives

This site and its comment system are self-hosted on a server I manage directly, located in the United States. Comment data does not leave that server except for the third-party services named above, which only ever see what’s inherent to their own embed (e.g., X sees that its own embed loaded — it doesn’t see your comment data).

Children’s Privacy

This site isn’t directed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If what this site collects or how it’s handled changes, this page gets updated and the date at the top will reflect it.
