HAARP Reception Log

HAARP is the High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, an ionospheric research facility near Gakona, Alaska. The Air Force and Navy ran it from the early 1990s through 2014; the University of Alaska Fairbanks has operated it since August 11, 2015. How to listen for it yourself

HAARP posts its own transmission schedule and frequencies publicly at haarp.gi.alaska.edu/transmissions. Check that page before an active research campaign, tune an HF receiver or SDR to the listed frequency, and listen during the announced window. The array can run 2.8 to 10 MHz at up to 3,600 kW, per HAARP’s own published specs. My QSL card below confirms one specific reception with the exact date, time, and frequency HAARP itself logged.

2026-08-25: Heard again from EM60

Caught it again, an active campaign flagged by a HamSCI email. Same general setup as before, with a Go2Antenna this time.

2026-02-20: QSL card confirms the November reception

HAARP mailed back a “Verification of Reception” card confirming the November 22 signal below: date, UTC time, and frequency, all in their own hand.

2025-11-22: Confirmed reception, 0443-0501 UTC, 3.25 MHz

2025-11-20: First time hearing the “Christmas tree” sweep

First reception, a symmetrical sweep pattern hams call a “Christmas tree” signal, centered around 3.25 MHz.
